WP ch1-pg10

Kind of a boring page, but necessary for the proper pacing when reading it all at once. We're getting to the good stuff VERY soon, I promise!!

I wonder if it ever occurred to anyone on the last page that in order for Jøsten to have noticed a button was missing, that means he had to count them all in the first place within seconds of looking at the shirt--which he totally did.

Because that is what Jøsten does: he counts things. Remember on page three when he seemed to be lost in his own little world looking around while the girls talked about him? Well, he was...because he was counting everything in the entire room. As one might imagine, living by a hardcore desire for an even-numbered life can get pretty inconvenient very fast, and it made him a rather difficult child to live with. His mom tried to counteract this difficulty by making him find ways things were sort of even.

Odd number of chairs and odd number of tables? "Well at least they're even together," she'd say. He knows he frustrates (and in the case of Rekka, infuriates) people, so he tries to use his mother's logic to make things more tolerable for himself and everyone else.

Still, he can't always help himself. Odd number of buttons that you dare propose he wear on his person? TOO FAR, MY FRIEND. He'll never do it.

Needless to say, Amira fixed the button.
